2025
Ayabei Karen Jepchumba is an experienced Agronomist specializing in plant nutrition, with a strong commitment to empowering smallholder farmers. She focuses on helping them adopt sustainable farming practices that enhance resilience against climate change’s negative impacts. Growing up in the rural areas of Baringo, where vibrant Savannah grasslands and dense bushes once characterized her father’s land, Ayabei witnessed firsthand the environmental changes that have left the land barren. This transformation has fueled her commitment to championing initiatives that promote soil health and sustainable agriculture. Her passion has driven her doctoral research, where she is working to improve nutrient use efficiency and increase crop production, aiming to strengthen food security while combating climate change.
Ayabei leads soil health initiatives, providing free soil analysis and technical advice to support smallholder farmers in restoring degraded soils, improving productivity, and building resilience against climate change.
