A leader must inspire, guide, coach, and motivate their teams. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that the world is experiencing today poses extraordinary challenges for leaders, which may result in many missed opportunities for decisive action on viable coping mechanisms. We recognize that effective leadership and management in agricultural development organizations are critical. As organizations respond to the immediate and the possible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the future, African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) is offering leadership programs to support leaders with strategies, models, and frameworks for building change, agility, and resilience to strengthen leaders’ ability to navigate complex organizational and global dynamics for impact.
The Leadership Series is designed for middle to senior-level male and female managers who want to strengthen their leadership skills and build the core competencies required to transform and influence positive change in agricultural research and development. These learning experiences equip participants with skills to manage themselves, leverage diversity for good research results, and lead teams effectively. They are designed to help participants gain valuable insight into leadership communication, conflict management, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills, consequently increasing their visibility and influence in their organizations.
