Tsion Abate’s career in agriculture and food security started following an undergraduate degree in Nursing and Nutrition. The teachings she received fueled her desire to address child malnutrition. Since completing a master’s degree in Food Security and Developmental Studies at Addis Ababa University, Tsion has worked as a nutrition and gender expert for many organizations. She currently holds a position at the International Livestock Research Institute, where she works to ensure gender mainstreaming, particularly in food security projects.
I am fortunate to be part of the GRASP Fellowship. It is crucial for my career and will help me greatly in my commitment to empowering women as one means to achieve food security.
