Coumbaly Diaw
Senegal
2023
Originally from the north of Senegal, Coumbaly Diaw's love of farming began in childhood with her father's nostalgic tales of his native Walo village. Despite an early marriage and personal difficulties, she persevered with her studies before finding the support of a mentor in Italy who changed the course of her life. Back in Senegal, she became involved in non-governmental organizations focusing on agricultural development. For her, the GRASP initiative represents an important professional opportunity and platform to promote the role of women in decision-making.
Although we [women] are in contact with communities, policy decisions are made at the national level. Women need to be present at that level
