Chukwudumebi Leticia Egbule
Nigeria 2010
Chukwudumebi Leticia Egbule wants to find out what farmers are doing to adapt to climate change and how they are dealing with the negative impact of gas flaring from the oil industry. “My goal is to first look at the potential impact of climate change in the area, then to find out if farmers are aware of it and what their adaptation strategies are.” Egbule knew early on that her interests and talents leaned toward science. She will soon complete a master’s degree in Agricultural Extension, and plans to pursue a PhD immediately. Egbule looks forward to working with partner agencies, such as the Nigerian Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, to address the negative effect of climate change on agricultural production in the Niger Delta. Her goal is to help female and male farmers adapt to the impact of climate change and improve their farming methods.
