Nogaye Niang
Senegal 2020
Nogaye Niang works as a research assistant for the Department of Plant Biology at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. Her research is mainly based on plant and microbial biotechnology, plant improvement and, in particular, biofertilisation and the restoration of degraded soil, using plants or rhizosphere micro-organisms (symbiotic and/or non symbiotic bacteria). The aim of this pre-project is to investigate technological innovations that reduce nitrous oxide emissions through the application of nitrogen fertiliser, thus ensuring sustainable food security. Nogaye is hoping to take on considerable responsibility within the university and to play a role in the main decision-making bodies.
She will soon be managing a research unit/laboratory, based on a partnership of interest between the private sector and applied research experts, to support development, food security and the businesses of women food producers.
Field of Research
