Benoit believes that the search for new sources of resistance is an ongoing process of cowpea improvement through genetic control of production constraints. It is also justified by a tendency to increase cowpea production in Burkina Faso, especially by the most vulnerable segments of the population that do not have the means to obtain inputs in order to plan the defense of their crop.
