AWARD is pleased to announce that Dr. Josephine Songa, has been recruited to support the team and, in particular, Dr. Helga Recke, AWARD’s Senior Advisor, Women in Science and Science Coordinator, until the end of August 2011, and possibly beyond.
Josephine holds a PhD in entomology and has many years of experience in the national agricultural research system in Kenya, as well as in the NGO sector. Previously, she was the coordinator of the Crop Protection Programme at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute. She also served as the director of Capacity Building and Technology Deployment at the Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International and was a systems management consultant for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa. In 2005, Josephine was selected as one of first 11 fellows in the CGIAR Gender & Diversity pilot program and became an AWARD Mentor in 2010.
Josephine will handle all correspondence regarding research attachments, conferences, and professional associations.
