50 African Women Policy Practitioners Join the Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy Fellowship.

We are pleased to welcome the third cohort of 50 dynamic African women into the Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy (GRASP) Fellowship for an immersive career development journey that will combine leadership development, technical excellence and mentoring.

The 50 policy practitioners from five Africa countries – Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia and Uganda— were selected from a pool of more than 500 applicants through a rigorous process that reviewed their track record and experience in agrifood system. The Cohort commenced their journey on July 27th with a seven-day Women’s Leadership and Management Course (WLMC), one of the various training courses offered in the Fellowship.

Fellows expressed their excitement at being selected into the Fellowship and their experience in the WLMC that is currently ongoing in Mombasa, Kenya.

One key takeaway for me from the Women Leadership and Management course is that overcoming fear creates room for growth and meaningful impact. I am more self-aware that stepping beyond my comfort zone is not just a personal challengeit’s a powerful leadership strategy that can unlock new opportunities for positive influence.

Dr. Rosemary Anderson, Policy Fellow from Ghana.

This Cohort joins two other Cohorts of fellow experts from 12 African countries including Burkina, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia. Among other activities, they will be supported to create collaborative partnerships and networking opportunities within and across Cohorts.

Together, the Cohorts form a vibrant community that will work to foster gender responsive policies and programs for equitable agrifood systems.

The GRASP Fellowship is equipping African policy practitioners with the necessary skills, attitude, and knowledge to drive the agenda on gender-responsive agricultural policy development, implementation, and advocacy in their countries, regions and at the continental level.
