The daughter of a livestock farmer, Pousga Salimata Sondé dreamed of a career as a Livestock Engineer. Her passion for animal science led her to study at leading universities in Senegal and Sweden, thanks to scholarships that rewarded her excellence. Now a Senior Lecturer in Animal Reproduction and Nutrition, she devotes her time to teaching and research. For Pousga, benefiting from the GRASP initiative is an opportunity to restore livestock farming to its rightful place in agricultural policy discussions. She believes in agroecology and wants to find alternatives to the intensification of agriculture and livestock farming.
As a Research Professor, I am keen to bring the subject of animal husbandry into the conversation. An essential sub-sector of agriculture, it is often overlooked in discussions around agricultural policy
Area of Focus
