Caritas Kayilisa
Rwanda
2023
Caritas Kayilisa has dedicated the past 12 years of her career to integrating gender equality into Rwanda’s agriculture sector. She feels her most impactful assignment has been coordinating and implementing Rwanda’s first gender mainstreaming strategy for agriculture whilst working as a consultant for UN Women. As an AWARD Policy Fellow, she hopes to gain insights from her mentor and other Fellows that will help her implement her research on the relationship between women’s empowerment and the reduction of child stunting in rural areas.
I want to work on a new model to demonstrate the correlation between the empowerment of women and the reduction of malnutrition in rural households.
Area of Focus
Demonstrate the correlation between empowerment of women and reduction of stunting (impairment growth and development among children due to poor nutrition).
