Interim Vice Chancellor, Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU)
Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa is a Professor of Food Science and Technology and currently, the Interim-Vice Chancellor of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU). He was formerly the Head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana, Legon-Accra, Ghana.He serves as a consultant in several organizations and projects including the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ghana School Feeding Programme, German Development Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, and the International Foundation for Science (IFS-Sweden). Prof. Afoakwa holds a PhD in Food Science from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and an MPhil and BSc in Food Science from the University of Ghana. He also holds certificates in International Food Laws and Regulations from the Michigan State University, USA. Prof. Afoakwa is a trained and licensed Food Auditor ofthe World Food Safety Organization, UK. He is a Fellow of the African Scientific Institute (ASI) and a member of several professional bodies including the Ghana Science Association (GSA). He has authored and co-authored 185 publications (including 90 peer-reviewed journal publications, five books, four book chapters, two encyclopedia chapters. Prof. Afoakwa serves on several boards and committees, at both national and international levels. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF) in Washington, USA, and President of the African Society of Food Science and Technology (ASoFOST). He is also an external examiner and promotion assessor for many national and international tertiary institutions and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Food Technology Research.He brings to ATEAM a wealth of experience and knowledge in Scientific Writing and Research Proposal Courses.
