Nigerian Women in Agricultural Research and Development, NiWARD, was created to give the over 200 AWARD Fellows, Mentors and Mentees a platform to share knowledge and skills gained through the Fellowship to transform the agricultural sector in Nigeria. NiWARD is steered by AWARD’s former Steering Committee member, Dr. Stella Williams. Through NiWARD, the Fellows, their mentors and mentees are empowering and building the capacity of rural farmers including women and their communities to fight hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. Additionally, their efforts in collaboration with rural farming communities is contributing toward transforming the Nigerian agricultural sector and push the National Agricultural Transformation Agenda forward, in line with the Government’s policy to grow this sector. NiWARD has over 200 Fellows, Mentors and Mentees participating in the Program from the 6 regions of Nigeria.
