Malawian Women in Agricultural Research and Development (MAWARD) has been in operation since June 2016 when the inception meeting for the chapter was held, although individual efforts date back several years before then. The chapter brings together Malawian alumni of the African Women in Agriculture, Research and Development (AWARD) fellowship to sustain the impacts registered through the fellowship by enhancing collaboration, sharing best practices and networking for agricultural transformation in Malawi. MAWARD seeks to become a reliable network for women in Agricultural Research and Development that will spearhead the empowerment and capacity building of young women scientists and institutions, while transforming the agricultural landscape in Malawi.
