Kagunyu Anastasia Wanjiku is a Chief Research Scientist at Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) with a PhD in Anthropology with a focus on the impact of climate variability on Borana pastoralists in Isiolo, Kenya. She earned both her M.A. and undergraduate degree from the University of Nairobi and completed research training at Nijmegen Catholic University in the Netherlands. Kagunyu has led projects funded by prominent organizations such as the EU, World Bank, and USAID and has collaborated with institutions like UNESCO, AMREF, and NIRP. An expert in gender mainstreaming, she chairs the Gender Mainstreaming Committee at the KALRO Biotechnology Research Institute in Muguga and trains in Gender Action Learning Systems (GALS). Additionally, she serves as a board member for Guzakuza in Ghana, supporting African women in agribusiness.
Kagunyu's work addresses socio-cultural and economic barriers to empower women, youth, and individuals with disabilities, particularly in climate-smart agriculture.
