Ekalo Janet Ahatho is the Director for Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resource Management (NRM) in Marsabit County, Kenya.  She has extensive experience in environmental conservation, climate change, and community development. A professional member of the Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK) and a NEMA-registered Lead Expert in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA/EA), Ekalo holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Environmental Studies from Kenyatta University. A proud member of Kenya's Indigenous Rendille pastoral community, she is a passionate advocate for girl-child rights and peace in Marsabit County. With a track record of collaboration with organizations like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and World Bank, Ms.Ekalo aspires to pursue a PhD at Clemson University, aiming to contribute to global sustainable development solutions.
Ekallo specializes in natural resource management, landscape restoration, community land governance, and locally-led climate actions.
