Chigamba Gladys is a research scientist with the Government of Malawi’s Department of Fisheries and an adjunct lecturer at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). With extensive experience in researching Lake Malawi and its tributaries, she understands the complex interactions between fisheries resources and their ecosystems. Committed to addressing climate change impacts, she has pursued specialized training in Integrated Water Resources Management, Advanced Leadership for African Food Systems, Agroecology, and more. Through her expertise and leadership, Chigamba is uniquely positioned to drive the transformation of African food systems while mentoring the next generation of youth leaders.
She works with the fishing communities to promote sustainable livelihoods and supports climate-resilient enterprises in women's cooperatives by encouraging diversification beyond fish, which are impacted by climate change.
