Monicah Mukami Waiganjo learned early in life that agriculture could provide many positive rewards. Growing up in rural Kenya, everyone in her family was involved in farming. Her father offered his children prizes for their good agricultural work, and Waiganjo won for producing the biggest cabbage. Little did she know then that horticulture and improving the livelihoods of smallholder fruit and vegetable farmers would become her life’s pursuit.
