About CSW67

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment globally, plays a critical role of facilitating conversations around the progress and potential of achieving gender equality. The Commission holds annual sessions that convene policy makers, non-governmental organizations, development partners, the civil society among others to discuss progress and emerging trends in gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CWS67) scheduled for March 6 to 17, 2023 is organized around two themes:

Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls

Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls

AWARD’s Participation

Recognizing that achieving gender equality and empowering rural women and girls are essential elements to achieve equitable agri-food systems, AWARD’s participation in the CSW67 is aligned with the event’s review theme.

At CSW67, AWARD will:

  • Raise awareness of the importance of gender-responsive agricultural policies for achieving inclusive development
  • Highlight priority policy areas for fostering gender-equitable and inclusive agricultural transformation in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Explore the importance of gender-responsive agriculture and food systems policies for achieving inclusive development and food systems
  • Contribute to galvanizing concrete actions toward gender-responsiveness in agricultural innovation systems
