Emerging Policy Priorities and the role of Gender in driving Equitable Food Systems

About the Webinar

The 2023 United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s report on  “The Status of Women in Agrifood Systems” highlights discriminatory policies as some of the barriers that continue to accelerate gender and social inequalities in agriculture and food systems.

The good news is that there is increased momentum in paying attention to policies as enablers of food systems transformation. The United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) recently convened a stocktaking meeting that discussed how to build resilient food systems and governance for food systems transformation.

This webinar sought to catalyze a conversation on the value and need for gender-responsive agri-food systems policies.

The webinar also launched the “Gender in Food Systems Policies” course, which will equip AWARD Policy Fellows with knowledge and skills in designing and implementing gender-responsive policies. The course is part of the training offered in the Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy (GRASP) Fellowship.
