A parallel event on ‘Gender-responsive agricultural innovations: Getting rural women ahead

Food systems in developing countries are dominated by women with limited resources—information (e.g., on markets, finances), agricultural innovations (new plant cultivars, animal breeds, farm machinery and agricultural methods).

Organized by AWARD and CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform, this event will discuss the need for gender-responsive agricultural innovations for rural women, showcasing promising examples, and how to support women’s use of such innovations.

The event will further deliberate on information and communication technology (ICT) in agricultural extension narrowing down on the promotion of productivity-enhancing agricultural technologies and practices and impacts on equity outcomes (e.g. women’s empowerment and decision making within households).
