Kanali focuses on the processing and preservation of agricultural produce using renewable energy sources and technologies to improve livelihoods and empower communities, especially those in rural areas. He also works on agricultural mechanization for improved livelihoods for smallholder farmers, and in environmental engineering (e.g., waste management, air quality and air and noise pollution control).
