Benedicto Nsiima Mutalemwa
Tanzania 2021
Growing up in an African village where agriculture was predominantly rain-fed, Mutalemwa Benedicto Nsiima became more intent on common small-scale farming approaches. However, after going through his formal education, he realized the food systems were vulnerable to technological and environmental factors, including climate change. This motivated him to pursue a carrier in meteorology and environmental sciences. Nsiima's research focuses on the best ways small-holder farmers can adapt to climate change through sustainable and more resilient agricultural practices and how to improve rain-water harvesting systems.
He believes this is a practical way to achieve food security and improve livelihoods in Sab-Saharan Africa holistically.
