Exploring the adaptation of cacti to improve improve soil degradation

Cactus has enormous potential for carbon sequestration in abandoned places that may not suit other crops. In Senegal, the plant has notable success in fixing dunes. 2019 One Planet Laureate Candidate Dr. Mame Sokhna Sarr is exploring the potential of cacti to restore degraded arid land and improve the resilience of local communities in Senegal.
