African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) invests in scientists, research institutions and agribusinesses to lead and deliver gender-responsive agricultural innovations. In this mission, we recognize that effective leadership and management in agricultural development organizations are critical. In response, AWARD Training has designed training courses, under its leadership series, tailored to facilitate transformative learning on proficient leadership.
The AWARD leadership series is designed for middle to senior-level male and female managers who want to strengthen their leadership skills and build the core competencies required to transform and influence positive change in agricultural research and development. These learning experiences equip participants with skills to manage themselves, leverage diversity for good research results and lead teams effectively. They are designed to help participants gain valuable insight into leadership communication, conflict management, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills consequently increasing their visibility and influence in their organizations.
2019 AWARD Leadership Series
We are pleased to announce that this year we are offering four courses under the leadership series as outlined below:
Course: Leadership Program for Agricultural Research and Development (LEPARD) for men and women
Dates: June 24 – 28, 2019
Venue: Washington DC
Host: International Food Policy Research Institute
Cost: USD 2,900 for tuition and all course materials exclusive of travel, accommodation, and meals costs.
Course: Enhancing Negotiations Skills for Women Course (for women only)
Dates: September 10 – 13, 2019
Venue: Kenya
Host: African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD)
Cost: USD 3,000 for tuition and all course materials exclusive of travel, accommodation, and meals costs.
*This course builds on AWARD’s Women’s Leadership and Management Course (WLMC), and its alumni are ideal candidates.
Course: Leadership Program for Agricultural Research and Development (LEPARD) for men and women
Dates: September 23 – 27, 2019
Venue: Ibadan, Nigeria
Host: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)
Cost: USD 2,800 for tuition and all course materials exclusive of travel, accommodation, and meals costs.
Course: Women’s Leadership and Management Course, (WLMC) for women only
Dates: October 6-11, 2019
Venue: Kenya ( Exact Venue TBA)
