This series highlights innovative research interventions and scientific advancements led by African scientists, beneficiaries of the AWARD One Planet Fellowship Program.

In this video, we feature Dr. Toyosi Igejongbo, an aquatic ecologist at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and a 2021 One Planet Laureate Candidate. Her research focuses on reducing heavy metal contamination in Nigerian water bodies to protect aquatic ecosystems, preserve fish populations, and mitigate the impact of contaminated water on human health.
