With a love of farming from an early age, Romana Mbinya knew exactly what path she wanted her life and career to take. She enjoyed working with farmers and listening to their experiences as an Extension Officer. She worked hard to make it as easy for mothers with young children to access agricultural training. Today, Romana is a Lecturer at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, educating students on agricultural extension, community development, leadership, and rural livelihoods. She is thrilled to have been accepted onto the GRASP Fellowship and is particularly excited about gaining a mentor to guide her career going forward.
“If I’d had a mentor, it wouldn’t have taken long for me to break the glass ceiling. That is why mentorship matters to me.”
