Ms. Mariam Bukola Aremu is a plant pathologist specializing in food safety, crop protection, and postharvest management. Her research focuses on microbial pathogens in stored and processed food crops, with a special interest in developing nano-based biopesticides to control mycotoxin-producing fungi. She leads a storage trial on nanoparticle synthesis, promoting environmentally safe pest control strategies. Mariam chairs the Academic Staff Union and AWARD’s Nigerian Women in Agricultural Research and Development (NiWARD) country chapter branch at NSPRI and coordinates the institute’s Ibadan zonal office. She is also committed to mentoring early-career scientists and students. Her vision is to champion gender-sensitive research and advocate for safer food systems in Nigeria.
