Chinasa Asonye is a seasoned agribusiness leader and women’s empowerment advocate with over 18 years of expertise in sustainable agriculture. As the CEO of Chileo Farms, she oversees a mechanized agribusiness specializing in catfish, Ofada rice, organic broilers, cassava, and vegetables, integrating value-added processing to enhance market competitiveness. Serving as the National Secretary of SWOFON (Small Scale Women Farmers Organization in Nigeria), she is actively involved in grassroots mobilization, advocacy, and leadership development. She also leads the Lagos Chapter of Ogbonge Women Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society and is the 2nd Vice President of the Lagos State Catfish Allied Association. Committed to gender-inclusive growth, Chinasa champions women’s land rights, financial inclusion, and access to resources. She pioneered the Village Savings and Loan Administration (VSLA) in Lagos, empowering over 1,000 women with financial resilience training. Recognized as an Oxfam Female Food Hero (2014), her work continues to shape policies and sustainable practices for smallholder women farmers across Nigeria.
