Livestock Production and Food Security - Consultant
Immediate Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Mulungushi University and Kwame Nkrumah University Dr. Judith Ngalande Lungu is a Livestock Production and Food Security Consultant and an agriculturist who taught at the University of Zambia (UNZA), which is a public university, from 1986 to 2012 with a one-year break from 1989 to 1990 when she taught at Botswana College of Agriculture during the transition from Agriculture and Veterinary Diploma programs to University Degree programs. She is also a member of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Board of Trustees. At UNZA, Dr Lungu developed courses, lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students in Animal Science, and supervised Undergraduate and Postgraduate Research. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba (UM), a Master of Science from the University of Massachusetts, and a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Zambia. Dr. Lungu’s Research interests were in female hormones, dairy production, and the development of small ruminants and poultry, becoming a small ruminant expert. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, Chapters in books, and published Farmer and Extension Manuals in Agriculture and Livestock. She provided weekly articles on “About Farming” in a National Paper called “The Post” from 2005 to 2010 and provided advisory services to the agriculture community. She is a mentor for the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), a Member of the Zambia Academy of Sciences (ZaAS), Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ), and The Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) Women in Science Working Group.
