Population Scientist and Lecturer, Makerere University, Uganda
Dr. Christian Kakuba is a bilingual (English, French) population scientist, with a bias in reproductive health, population, and development research. He is a lecturer at the School of Statistics and Planning, Makerere University, Kampala. He teaches courses in population studies, research methods, data analysis, as well as French as a foreign language. Dr. Kakuba has vast experience in conducting monitoring and evaluation activities in the broader social sciences. He also conducts research activities with the Demography Statistics for Africa and ESSA Project which covers five countries – Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Uganda, Senegal, and Tanzania. He holds Masters’ degrees in French and in Population and Development, a Certificate in Impact Evaluation and a summa cum laude PhD in Socio-demography from Université de Paris Descartes (Paris V), France. He is a member of professional bodies such as Institut National d’études démographiques (INED), Association Internationale des démographes de Langue Française (AIDELF). Within the A-TEAM, Dr. Kakuba trains the Research Proposal Writing and Scientific Writing courses in French and English languages.
