Widassie Gerezgiher Gebrye is the Head of the Gender Office at Mekelle Institute of Technology and lectures in Computer Science and Information Technology. Her work bridges the gap between gender advocacy and technology, utilizing data-driven insights to advance gender equality and increase women’s participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). She designs programs that empower female students, promote gender-sensitive institutional policies, and enhance digital literacy. Her research applies data science to understand gender disparities in education and decision-making, informing evidence-based interventions for inclusive development. By integrating analytics with social research, she generates actionable knowledge that supports policy, social transformation, and gender equity across African communities.
