Serah Mwikali Ndunda is the Manager for Data Science and Dissemination at the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, leading the integration of advanced data science into official statistics. She applies machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization, leveraging nontraditional sources such as satellite imagery, web-scraped data, and mobile phone data to inform national planning and policy. She also oversees the implementation of Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) standards and Open Data Platforms to promote interoperability and access. Collaborating with international partners, she focuses on AI-driven agriculture and food security prediction, capacity building, and knowledge sharing to enhance resilience and sustainable food systems, particularly in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions.
