Meron Tekalign Gelan’s work focuses on transboundary environmental management, gender-responsive conservation, urban ecology, and climate resilience in the Horn of Africa. As the Regional Coordinator for the Demand Driven Action Research (DDAR) Project at the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre (HoAREC), she leads research and coordination across Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Djibouti, and Somaliland. Her work integrates ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land management through participatory approaches. Through her role as an Assistant Professor at Addis Ababa University, she teaches and supervises research on climate adaptation, ecosystem services, and environmental safeguarding. Her work bridges science, policy, and practice to promote inclusive, sustainable, and climate-resilient governance across ecosystems and urban landscapes.
