Meka Taher Yimam’s work focuses on improving water management in agriculture, with an emphasis on assessing the water footprint of teff production. She analyzes water consumption and efficiency to identify strategies that optimize usage while maintaining crop yields, supporting sustainable practices in water-scarce regions. As an independent researcher her research contributes to projects focused on irrigation management, soil and water conservation, and the development of innovative irrigation technologies for smallholder farmers. Her work also integrates data-driven analysis with field applications, evaluating crop water requirements and promoting efficient irrigation methods. She aims to enhance water use efficiency, strengthen agrifood system resilience, and ensure sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture.
