A graduate of the University of Parakou in Benin, Dr. Houndjo Kpoviwanou focuses her research on the adoption of agroforestry systems that take into account gender issues and local knowledge. She is currently working on identifying local agroforestry species to improve soil fertility. Her goal is to develop biofertilizers adapted to local conditions in order to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. Dr. Houndjo Kpoviwanou is the founder of Karité Autonome, an organization that supports the empowerment of women by offering them business opportunities to promote their products. Passionate about scientific research and innovation, she is working on a number of projects to reduce gender inequality in agricultural research.  
Her goal is to develop biofertilizers adapted to local conditions in order to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers.
