Rosina Nanjala Wanyama
Kenya 2010
Rosina Nanjala Wanyama is studying the gender-related constraints in peanut value addition. “Peanuts represent the greatest value of any crop in western Kenya,” she says. “While most of the work is done by women, men tend to take over at the marketing stage, putting women at a disadvantage.” She is developing models to increase women’s income and improve their livelihoods.
I want to find out how to enable them to produce quality peanuts for the greatest income. I intend to sensitize them to the danger of aflatoxin contamination in their peanuts.
Field of Research
Evaluation of gender-related constraints in peanut value addition in Rongo, Ndhiwa, and Kisii districts of western Kenya.
