Alice Anyango Onyango develops protocols to simplify greenhouse gas (GHG) data collection from livestock systems in sub-Saharan Africa, supporting national inventories in line with Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) requirements. Working with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Kenya’s State Department for Livestock, she refines GHG emission factors from livestock and waste sectors to inform Kenya’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA). Alice’s research promotes climate-smart agropastoral farming for resilient smallholder farmers, especially women. At the sub-national level, she advances waste valorization and circular economy integration with county governments.
