Mwongera Venter Nkatha is the Chief Executive Officer of the African Biodiversity Alliance (ABA), where she leads a continental coalition committed to protecting Africa’s biocultural diversity and ecosystems. Her work focuses on advancing agroecology, community empowerment, and biodiversity conservation through inclusive, participatory approaches. Providing strategic leadership, she guides policy advocacy at national, regional, and global levels, ensuring alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Mwongera also plays a significant role in bridging indigenous and scientific knowledge to develop sustainable, culturally rooted solutions. Her expertise spans agroecological transformation, science communication, and policy integration for ecological restoration. A sought-after voice in high-level dialogues, she represents ABA in international forums, shaping biodiversity and food systems policies.
