Rooted Progress: Boosting Taro and Cocoyam Farming in Togo | Powering Planetary Change

“Powering Planetary Change: Climate Solutions for Africa, by Africa” is a groundbreaking documentary series produced by the African Women in Agricultural Research for Development (AWARD). This series highlights innovative research interventions and scientific advancements led by African scientists, beneficiaries of the AWARD One Planet Fellowship Program. In this video, we feature Damigou Bammite, a researcher and a 2020 One Planet Fellowship Laureate Candidate from Togo.

He highlights the lack of knowledge about taro in certain communities in Togo, in contrast to its widespread use in neighboring Ghana. He uses his scientific expertise to educate Togolese farmers on taro cultivation to enhance production and promote food security.
