Beatrice Mbakaya was motivated to follow a career in agriculture after being inspired by her elder brother’s work as an Extension Officer. Her own journey began when she was selected to study Agricultural Sciences at Lilongwe University of Agriculture of Natural Resources, after which she was employed in the agriculture extension department at the Ministry of Agriculture. Currently, Beatrice is the Director of Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources at Nkhata-Bay District Council and holds a PhD in Transformative Community Development.
“I see the GRASP Fellowship as a great opportunity for me to energize myself to continue pushing for my dream of setting up a non-governmental organization.”
