Lorraine Makumba Chishimba, a Zambian agricultural news reporter, believes that the dissemination of timely agricultural information is a key to poverty reduction. “Information is power and there are a lot of innovations that farmers need to know about,” says Chishimba, an agricultural information officer with the National Agricultural Information Services in the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. “However, farmers have lots of valuable information to share, as well. My goal is to help them get the word out so their contributions can be scientifically tested and shared with other farmers in Zambia and across the continent. I want to be a conveyor belt of the latest agro-innovations to the farmers.”
