Nurturing Africa’s leadership to deliver climate solutions
Since 2019, the One Planet Fellowship has been cultivating a vibrant network of African scientists equipped with the leadership, research, and networking skills to address climate-related agricultural challenges. Our Knowledge Festival brings together this exceptional community with mentors, partners, and government representatives to share knowledge, collaborate, and inspire action. To date, more than 440 people from 28 countries have directly participated in the Fellowship either as Laureate Candidates, Mentors, and emerging researchers (known as Learning Partners).
Over two days, we explored cutting-edge research, innovative solutions, and strategies to strengthen climate research in Africa and empower the continent’s smallholders. Through this Knowledge Festival, we did seek to inspire and empower African scientists to lead the way in addressing the continent’s pressing food security challenges and building a more sustainable and equitable future.
The Knowledge Festival culminated in a graduation ceremony for the One Planet Laureate Candidates who graduated to become One Planet Laureates that will continue being leading ambassadors for climate solutions for Africa by Africa.
