Maureen Phiri

Ms. Maureen Phiri is a Forestry Technician at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), where she supports academic and research functions in the Department of Forestry. She recently completed her Master's degree at Mzuzu University, researching soil fertility improvement options using biological nitrogen fixation and its effects in household food security. Maureen’s work focuses on sustainable forest management, including forest inventory, reforestation, and biodiversity conservation. She has engaged in community-based forest management projects, advocating for gender-inclusive approaches in natural resource use. She currently contributes to research on institutional capacity for sustainable agroforestry in Malawi and looks forward to advancing work on gender-responsive forestry policies
