Plant Breeder and Lecturer Researcher, University of Abomey Calavi, Benin
Dr. Eric Agoyi is a plant breeder, biotechnologist, and seed technologist, with experience in biological resource conservation and management. He is currently involved in coordinating the implementation of research in breeding programmes aimed at developing improved varieties of Kersting’s groundnut, soybean, and sweet potato. Dr. Agoyi works as a lecturer-researcher at the University of Abomey-Calavi, in Benin where he teaches plant and forest genetics, quantitative genetics, breeding principles, and molecular techniques. He is a member of several fora including the CoP Advisory Board for the Gender-Responsive Researchers Equipped for Agricultural Transformation (GREAT), the African Plant Breeding Academy (AfPBA), the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). He has (co)authored about 40 journal articles, and reviewed over 250 scientific papers for renowned peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Agoyi is very passionate about gender, leadership, coaching, mentoring, and personal development. He trains the research proposal and scientific writing courses for AWARD.
