Olyvia Gwladys Fadeyi is a Doctor in Tropical Mycology whose research explores ethnomycological knowledge and the nutritional and medicinal potential of wild edible mushrooms in West Africa. She bridges traditional practices with scientific innovation to promote sustainable use of fungal biodiversity for food security, health, and climate resilience. Since 2013, she has conducted extensive surveys across Benin, documenting indigenous knowledge and analysing key edible and medicinal mushroom species. Her work also supports women’s empowerment through mushroom-based value chains, training, and entrepreneurship. She is also engaged in applied mycology, developing community initiatives, and exploring medicinal mushroom biotechnology, mycopharmacy, and the restoration of fungi-driven ecosystems.
