Lisa Mwale Lusungu is working on precision agriculture by pioneering the use of drone technology for early detection of pests and diseases in sugarcane estates. She applies multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, combined with deep learning, to capture subtle physiological changes in crops before they are visible to the naked eye. Her work enables timely interventions, reduces pesticide reliance, and improves crop productivity. By integrating artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and data-driven decision-making, Lisa promotes climate-smart agriculture, enhances sustainability, and lowers production costs.
